An ancient song to celebrate spring and all the gifts that this season offers. A song that recalls the pagan rites of exaltation of fertility. A song aimed at everyone to feel united in a well-wishing celebration. A song to ask for offerings. This is the begging song of May. May celebrations they reveal how since ancient times men have felt the need to bring good luck for the difficult work of the earth and at the same time the duty to thank and ingratiate themselves with nature for its fruits.

The singers are villagers equipped with popular instruments including accordion, harpsichord and other handcrafted instruments. They go from alley to alley, from house to house to donate music and ditties.

This precious tradition still lives in the municipality of Morro D'Alba, long organized with the fundamental contribution of Gastone Pietrucci, singer and scholar, founder of the Macina, Marche Research and Popular Singing Group. Those who are lucky enough to be in those districts in this period will be able to enjoy the rare opportunity to listen to the poetry of the ditties that glorify nature and love in a simple and shrewd way, with jokes that are sometimes irreverent, sometimes foul-mouthed and licentious, but always full of an authentic joy of living.

The celebrations are many. They begin on the morning of the third Friday of the month with the preparation of the May Tree decorated with multicolored bows by nursery school children and planted in the square on Sunday by young vigorous people, it continues on Saturday evening with the Concert for May and on Sunday the Party from morning until evening, with the participation of singers from the surrounding countryside. Some of them are elderly, but there is no shortage of young people who have inherited the legacy of a feeling linked to the territory. Together they perform along the enchanting walkways of the village which surround the oldest houses. The last demonstration takes place on the evening of the 31st: the Maypole is burned in the square amidst general joy.

The Lacrima di Morro D'Alba, one of the delicious wines of the Ancona brand, flows freely. Vergare prepare succulent foods. The party is big. Worthy of Spring.
